Visionary Soap, Hand Salve and Lip Balm - Review

Recently I reviewed soaps from The Visionary Soap Company here.  But the company is not just about soaps, they also produce lip balms, body butters, bath melts and much more.  The lovely people at The Visionary Soap Company have kindly sent me two products to try - Peppermint Lip Balm and Rosemary and Lavender Gardener's Hand Salve.

It is made with sunflower oil, Fairtrade certified olive oil from Palestine, Fairtrade certified shea butter from Ghana, candelilla wax, vitamin E (as a natural preservative) and flavoured with peppermint essential oil .  It comes in a glossy 5 ml emerald green cosmetic jar with chrome top.  This product also contains 34% Fairtrade certified ingredients (when minimum requirement for certification is 5%)!
When you remove the lid of the pot you are hit with the gorgeous minty fragrance - it smells just like after dinner mints, yum!  It feels lovely when you apply it to your lips - the only problem was that I kept wanting to lick it off because it smelt so tasty!  It leaves your lips feeling soft and kissable.  You only need a small amount, so the pot lasts for a long time.  The Organic Lip Balms are also available in three other flavours - Grapefruit, Lemon and Orange.  They all retail at £3.25 from www.visionarysoap.co.uk

I don't do much gardening, but I do suffer from dry, sore hands so I loved trying this hand salve.

It is made withh sunflower oil, Fairtrade certified olive oil from Palestine, Fairtrade shea butter from Ghana, candelilla wax, vitamin E (as a natural preservative) and scented with lavender essential oil and WFTO certified rosemary essential oil from Madagascar.  Perfect for soothing dry and chaffed skin, and is ideal for applying after a busy gardening session.  Available in 60ml in a recyclable tin with screw top lid.  This product also contains 34% Fairtrade certified ingredients (when minimum requirement for certification is 5%)!

The fragrance of this hand salve is lovely.  The lavender scent is not over-powering, it's just the right strength.  It felt slightly greasy at first, but did sink in well after a few minutes.  It left my hands feeling lovely and soft (and they smelt lovely too!).  The hand salve kept my hands soft all day, I was really impressed with it.  I'd recommend this to everyone, not just gardeners, although if you don't like lavender (like my mum!) it might not be for you.  The hand salve costs £6.25 and the pot lasts for ages as you only need small amounts to keep your hands beautifully soft.
